From the above title, one would naturally assume that I have only been clogging up the internet for the past three years. No no no. Believe it or not, I've had a web presence since the year 2000. I was in the fifth grade, and damn near retarded. You can still see the creatively named Chuck's Web Site in, essentially, its original habitat. It was originally made with Angelfire's Site Maker, which was just a form you filled out from which a site was generated. I eventually started to learn HTML, and made some shitty web pages with that. Content was a scatter-shot approach to anything I found interesting (sound familiar?).
As I grew and matured slightly, I reorganized the site as a wargaming website. The original Chuck's World O' Wargames launched in 2004, and languished for a year before procrastination and non-productivity killed it and the "Wheel of Time Miniatures Wargame Alpha". I later moved it to Freewebs, where it died again, nothing having been accomplished. For reasons I can't quite remember, I moved it again to E3U hosting, where some progress was made: the WOT game went from Alpha to Beta and War and Pieces was invented. I was kicked off that hosting service in January '06 because they implemented a stupid scheme wherein we "paid" for our hosting by posting in the official forums, and neglected to tell anyone. It was time for change.
Going back to August of '05, we pick up another thread in this narrative. That month is that in which I started my first real blog (as opposed to the drivel-updates on my first site). In defeat of the purpose, I kept it set to "private," and it went unread. The MSN space is gone, but you can still read some posts here.
Fed-up as I was, I wanted something I could control a little more. So I came here, to EHostPros. As long as I paid my bill, I could stay, and I had access to resources to make my site less shitpile-like (perhaps I will take advantage of them one day.) So I registered this domain, bought this webspace, and moved things over. I created it as a hub for my scatter-shot of pages about various things. I had moved from disparate websites to one unified Chuck-related terminus. I had my blog in a shitty frame, and Chuck's World O' Wargames as a subdomain. And then I did something stupid: I started moving assets off this site onto others. I made a blog with Google Pages, and put The Small Island Nation Wiki on Bluwiki*, and my original Senior Project page went on offsite also. I've done a better job bringing things like my blog back onto this server.
*Though, to be fair, if phpWiki had worked as advertised, I could have done it right on this site.
My time on this site has been fairly well documented, and you can read all about the projects that I have started and abandoned over time. This was a mildly active year, as you can see below.
Chuck's World O' Wargames - I have posted The Cheese Game. Meanwhile, everything else stagnates.
Chuck-ese - I had my 100th post, 4 legitimate registered users (0 active), lots of spam, and nothing good to say.
Small Island Nation - I meant to wright this up for National Novel Writing Month, but that passed, and college got in the way anyway. Nothing else on this front.
Oedipus.Rex - Posted, no traffic, 2 Diggs, lots of typos.
The Wildcat Code - Posted, noticed, the only thing on this site that shows potential. "Made of Win."
Election '08 Student Issues Scorecard - I was instrumental in designing and making this.
A secret project which shall go unnamed - Delayed due to college. Saying any more will jinx it.
Chucksphere main page - re-design imminent.
For the future, I promise nothing, except that the next anniversary may be on a different host. Billing Dispute has reared its ugly head again.
Farewell.
